The biggest controversy over the way Facebook data ended up in the hands of political consultancy Cambridge Analytica was how it got there. The company not only got access to the data of anyone naive enough to give permission to a third-party ‘personality quiz,’ but Facebook allowed the app some access to the data of their friends also … This means that even if you are personally careful not to give access to your Facebook data to third-party apps, you still can’t be sure it wasn’t used....

Facebook has long allowed you to download an archive of all the data the social network has on you, and HackerNoon’s Georges Abi-Heila decided to find out exactly what company knows about its users … Abi-Heila reports (via TNW) that his archive was a 500MB zip file, and it included everything from the day he joined the service. Some of the data is more detailed than you might expect. Quite simply, Facebook never deletes anything....

What’s worse is he was relying on the app’s Optimize Mac Storage setting to fit the library on his local storage and trusting iCloud not to screw things up along the way....

Apple didn’t talk about the HomePod on stage but it has quietly updated the product pages with some announcements. Firstly, the radio stations feature is launching on HomePod on September 30. However, the previously-announced multi-user support and the music handoff features are not coming in September. Apple simply says ‘later this fall’.
