Update as of January 9: Based on the latest information, the Magic UI 4.0 will bring on-board a new feature called file flash transfer feature which allows resumable transfers, long-distance large file sharing, among others. According to the latest piece of information, devices like Honor 30 Pro, 30 Pro+, V30, V30 Pro, Honor 30, V20, Honor 20, 20 Pro, and Magic 2 will get the feature soon.

Update as of November 17: Honor, a sub-brand from Huawei, has sold off its Honor business to Zhixin New Information Technology Co. Ltd in China. The Honor smartphones will receive software updates as usual without any sudden changes to the Chinese OEM at this moment. Read more about it here. 

Update as of October 29: According to the latest update, the Chinese smartphone maker Huawei had already released EMUI 11/MagicUI 4.0 on 10 models as public beta followed by ten models to be added today. Turns out Wang Chenglu who is the president of Huawei’s consumer business software department said that the company plans to roll out the Android 11 based update on 37 models. The company is aiming to reach more than 200 million users and plans an upgrade rate of 90%. He further added that the company is sought to rank first in terms of both upgrade volume and upgrade rate. [Source]

Update as of October 22: According to the latest update, the Chinese manufacturer Huawei has released the second MagicUI 4.0 update across Honor V30, Honor V30 Pro, Honor 30, Honor 30 Pro, and Honor 30 Pro+ in its home country. Update 01: Now that the source code for Android 11 is readily available, a Huawei spokesperson has clarified that Huawei will deploy some of the features from Android 11 to EMUI 11/ Magic UI 4.0. Update as of September 08: Google has now officially launched the much-anticipated 11th major mobile operating system aka Android 11. Earlier known as Android R, the Android 11 packs in a plethora of features that exceeds the previous iterations with a great magnitude. The sub-brand of Huawei, Honor that focuses on the young generation of the smartphone world, is expected to bring some new features to the Magic UI 4.0. For those who do not know, Magic UI is a custom UI specifically meant for the Honor devices. Honor is also quite busy in updating its devices to the Android 10 update. And by the time it is doing that, Google has already released the Android 11 Developer Preview 1.1 for developers to test out the environments for their apps and games.

Considering this, now that Android 11 is official, OEMs like Honor will quickly hop onto the bandwagon of releasing the latest Magic UI 4.0 which will be based on Android 11. What’s on Android 11?

The stable Android 11 is officially here. It all started with the Android 11 Developer Preview 1 in February 2020 with a total of 6 updates before the stable Android 11 update is pushed out for the public. You can check out the image below which depicts the time frame of when the updates will be pushed.

Going by the timeline as mentioned above, the developer previews were released every month till May 2020. The final and stable build of Android 11 is now available for the OEMs. Huawei has confirmed releasing MagicUI 4.0 on selected Honor smartphones by mid-September and will soon release in other smartphones.

As per a recent report, below is the list of Honor devices that are going to get the Magic UI 4.0:

Honor X30

The latest smartphone on the Honor series, X30 has a 6.8-inch IPS LCD 120Hz panel with Snapdragon 695 SoC under the hood. There’s a 66W fast charging tech that takes its 4800 mAh battery just 30 minutes to fully juice it up. The device has a 16MP selfie and 48MP+2+2MP rear triple camera setup. It runs on Android 11-powered MagicUI 5.0 out-of-the-box.

Honor Play 30 Plus

The Honor Play 30 Plus has a 6.7-inch LCD HD+ 90Hz panel with Dimensity 700 SoC under the hood. There’s a 13MP+2MP rear and a 5MP front camera. On the software front, the device has got both Android 11 and Magic UI 5.0 on-board.

Honor X30i 5G

The Honor X30i 5G packs in a 6.7-inch LCD 90Hz FHD+ panel with 8MP selfie, a 48MP triple rear camera and a Dimensity 810 5G SoC under the hood paired with 8GB RAM and 128/256GB of storage. The device runs on Android 11-powered MagicUI 5.0 without Google Play Services. 

Honor X30 Max

The Honor X30 Max packs in a 7.09-inch FHD+ panel with 5,000 mAh battery, a Dimensity 900 SoC, 8GB RAM and up to 256GB of storage. There’s a 64MP dual rear camera and a 8MP selfie cam. The device runs on Android 11-powered MagicUI 5.0 without GMS.

Honor 50 Lite

Honor 50 Lite has finally made its appearance in the global market with Android 11-powered MagicUI 4.2 out-of-the-box with GMS. It’s specifications includes a 6.67-inch IPS LCD panel, 64MP quad-camera setup, 67W HyperCharge, a Snapdragon 662 SoC under the hood among others although the processor was unknown at the time of writing this.

Honor Play5 Youth

The Honor Play5 Youth packs in a Dimensity 900 SoC along with 8GB RAM with up to 2GB of virtual RAM, 128GB and 256GB of internal storage, and it runs on Android 11-powered Magic UI 4.2 out-of-the-box. The device has a 6.67-inch FHD+ 120Hz display with 16MP front and 64MP dual rear camera setup. 

Honor X20 5G

After the Honor Magic3 series, Honor has released the X20 5G which is another smartphone from the Chinese smartphone maker. The device packs in a 6.67-inch FHD+ 120Hz LCD panel with a 16MP selfie camera and a 64MP triple rear camera setup. The device is fueled by a 4,300mAh battery along with 66W wired fast charging. On top of all, the device runs on Android 11-powered Magic UI 4.2 out-of-the-box with GMS.

Honor Pad V7 Pro

Launched with the latest MediaTek Kompanio 1300T chipset, Pad V7 Pro packs in a 11-inch 1600×2560 pixels resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The device comes with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage. It runs on the latest MagicUI 5.0 on top of Android 11 out-of-the-box and yes, it has Google Mobile Services as well.

Honor Magic 3

The Honor Magic3 packs in a 6.76-inch OLED 1B 120Hz panel with a Snapdragon 888 5G SoC with 8GB RAM and 128/256GB of storage. The device packs in a 13MP+ToF front and a 50MP+64MP+13MP rear triple camera setup. It has a beefy battery paired with 66W fast charging tech. Plus, it runs on Android 11-powered Magic UI 5.0 with Google Play Services out-of-the-box.

Honor Magic3 Pro

Equipped with Snapdragon 888+, the Magic3 Pro has the same 6.76-inch OLED 10-bit 120Hz HDR10+ display along with 50MP quad-camera setup and a 13MP+ToF front camera. There’s Magic UI 5.0 based Android 11 with Google Play Services out-of-the-box.

Honor Magic3 Pro+

The finest of the trio, the Honor Magic3 Pro+ packs in a Snapdragon 888+ 5G chipset along with a 50+64+64+64MP quad-camera setup. It has a 66W fast charging along with 4,600 mAh battery and runs on Magic UI 5.0 with Google Play Services based on Android 11.

Honor X20 SE

Latest in the lineup, the Honor X20 SE arrives with a 6.6-inch FHD+ TFT LCD display with  4,000 mAh battery under the hood, a 22.5W fast charging tech, and a MediaTek DImensity 700 SoC on-board with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. There’s Android 11-based Magic UI 4.1 running on-board Honor X20 SE.

Honor 50 Pro

Honor 50 Pro brings on-board a  6.72-inch 10-bit FHD+ AMOLED panel with 120Hz RR. The device houses a 32+12MP front camera setup with a 108MP+8MP+2MP+2MP rear camera module. The Honor 50 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G SoC with 8/12GB RAM and has a massive 4,000 mAh battery under the hood. Honor 50 Pro arrives with Android 11-powered Magic UI 4.2 with GMS out-of-the-box. 

Honor 50

The Honor 50 dials the display to 6.57-inch FHD+ 90Hz AMOLED panel with a 32MP selfie shooter. The rear camera setup is the same as Pro i.e. 108+8+2+2MP quad-camera setup. The device comes paired with a Snapdragon 778G SoC with a 4,300 mAh battery under the hood. Also, the device runs on Android 11-powered Magic UI 4.2 with GMS out-of-the-box. 

Honor 50 SE

Honor 50 SE brings on-board a giant 6.78-inch LCD 120Hz panel with a 16MP shooter on top of it. There’s a 108+8+2MP rear camera module as well. The device is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 900 SoC with 8GB+128GB configuration and has a 4,000 mAh battery under the hood. The device has Magic UI 4.2 based on Android 11 with GMS out-of-the-box. 

Honor View30 Pro

Already speculated to get Android 11 R, Honor View30 Pro is a flagship smartphone in the Honor View series. It is equipped with the latest Kirin 990 5G processor clubbed with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The update should arrive early next year although we couldn’t be extremely sure at this moment.

The standard Honor V30 is a 5G-enabled device thanks to its kirin 990 processor. The device is likely to be upgraded to Android 11-based Magic UI since it arrived with Android 10 out-of-the-box. The timeline is unavailable at the moment but Huawei tends to offer updates pretty quickly.

The phone is equipped with a 6.57-inch FHD+ panel and a Kirin 990 5G chipset under the hood. It was released in November 2019 with Android 10.0 based Magic UI 3. Thus, there’s no doubt it will be bumped to Android 11 R sometime next year although the timeline isn’t confirmed yet.

The device is highly likely to get Android 11 R given the fact that it arrived this year in February with Android 10 out-of-the-box.

Honor 30 is a flagship smartphone with Kirin 985 5G processor on-board and 128/256GB of storage, 8GB of RAM, and a quad-camera setup. The phone originally arrived with Android 10-based Magic UI 3 with HMS in April 2020. This is enough to declare that it will be among the first to receive an Android 11 R upgrade in the Honor lineups.

The Honor 30S brings top-notched specifications while targeting a lower price tag with its Kirin 820 5G chipset. The device is equipped with a 6.5-inch LTPS IPS panel with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.1 storage. Released in March 2020 with Android 10 on-board, no doubt it will also get its share of Android 11 R upgrade sometime soon.

Honor 9X

Honor 9X which is also known as Honor 9X Premium was released in November 2019 with Kirin 710F processor under the hood. The device arrived with Android 9.0 Pie-based EMUI 9.1. It is one of the handful of devices from Honor that are highly likely to get bumped to Android 11 R. Note that we aren’t aware of the time yet.

Honor 20 Lite (China)

The Chinese variant of Honor 20 Lite is power-packed with the triple camera setup, a Kirin 710F processor, up to 8GB RAM, and 128GB of storage among others. It was released with Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box and thus, it is eligible for Android 11 R unless Honor doesn’t deem it necessary to upgrade.

Honor Play 4

Honor Play 3e

The Honor Play 3e is a budget smartphone with Helio P22 processor on-board tagged along with 2/3GB of RAM and 32/64GB of ROM. Although the phone arrived with Android 9.0 Pie just last September, it is eligible for an Android 11 upgrade although it isn’t confirmed yet.

Honor Play 3

Honor Play 3 is another device that might get an Android 11 R upgrade sometime next year as it was released last year in September with Android 9.0 out-of-the-box. But perhaps, take it with a pinch of salt.

Honor V20

Update as of July 07: As per a leaked list of Huawei/Honor to get Android 11 upgrade, MagicUI 4.0 will arrive on Honor V20 in Q3 2020.

Update as of November 9: Based on the latest info, Honor V20 users in China can sign up for the MagicUI 4.0 closed beta program in China. Interested users will have to apply for it and only a selected number of users will get their update via OTA as per the quota fixed by the OEM. Honor 20S made it official in October 2019 with Android 9.0 Pie on-board. The device is equipped with Kirin 810 SoC with 128GB storage and 6/8GB of RAM. The device is in line to get Android 11 R although we aren’t aware of the date of rollout at this moment.

The Honor 9X Pro is equipped with a rear triple camera sensor and a front pop-up module. It arrives with Kirin 810 SoC packed with 8GB of RAM and 128/256GB of internal storage. As it arrived in August 2019, it is highly likely to get Android 11 R sometime next year.

Honor 9X (China)

The Chinese Honor 9X is fueled by Kirin 810 SoC along with 64/128GB of storage and 4/6/8GB of RAM options. The device is expected to get its second & last upgrade to Android 11 R although it remains to be seen if Honor goes through with it or not.

Honor 8S

Honor 8S was announced in April last year and was released in the same month with Helio A22 SoC. The device had Android Pie 9.0 out-of-the-box which means it could get Android 11 R although we aren’t sure about it at this moment.

Honor Pad 5 8

Honor Pad 5 8 was announced last year in June and was released a month later with Kirin 710 SoC, an 8.0-inch IPS LCD panel with 1920×1200 pixels resolution. The device since it arrived with Android 9.0 Pie is likely to get Android 11 as well.

Honor 20 Pro

The Honor 20 Pro, as the name suggests, is a Pro variant with 128/256GB storage, up to 8GB of RAM, a 6.26-inch IPS display with 1080×2340 pixels resolution. The device made its debut in July 2019 with Android 9.0 out-of-the-box so it is imminent that it will get Android 11 R sometime next year.

Honor 20

Honor launched Honor 20 in June of 2019 with Kirin 980 SoC on-board alongside 6/8GB RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage. The device arrives with Android 9.0 Pie and has been speculated to get Android 11 R as well. There’s no information on the timeline as of now.

Update as of November 09: Honor has sent out an announcement for its latest MagicUI 4.0 based on Android 11. The Chinese OEM has asked users to sign up for MagicUI 4.0 Closed Beta program on Honor 20 and they will have to apply for the same to take part in this program as said. The global Honor 20 Lite (also known as Honor 10i) is a watered-down variant of its Chinese counterpart. It still has a triple camera at the back but with a 24Mp primary shooter. The device might be among the few that are speculated to get bumped to Android 11 R although take it with a pinch of salt.

Next in the Honor 20 series is Honor 20i that arrived back in April 2019 with Android Pie 9.0 on-board. It is among the few devices from Honor that might get beefed up to Android 11 R although the company hasn’t confirmed it yet.

Update as of April 10: Based on the update that we have for now, the Honor X10 Max is yet to get MagicUI 4.0 and it is likely that the update may not arrive ever. [Source]

Honor 8A Pro

The Honor 8A Pro arrived in April 2019 with MediaTek Helio P35 SoC and 2/3GB of RAM, 32/64GB of storage. The device was released with Android Pie 9.0 so there is a chance that it could get Android 11 R although it is not confirmed yet.

Honor Tab 5

Tab 5 released in March 2019 with Android 9.0. Although Honor hasn’t confirmed the list of Honor devices to get Android 11 R yet, it is possible that Tab 5 could be a recipient.

Honor View 20

The View 20 arrived in December of 2018 with Kirin 980 SoC. It is a predecessor to the View 30 series. As it was released running on Android 9.0 Pie, it is possible that it could be among the Honor devices to receive Android 11 R as well. But take it with a pinch of salt until it is confirmed.

Honor Magic 2 3D

The Honor Magic 2 3D arrives with a 6.39-inch AMOLED panel with Kirin 980 SoC on-board. The device has a triple rear and a triple front pop-up camera module. It made its debut in March 2019 with Android 9.0 Pie so it is likely that it might be bumped to Android 11 R but we aren’t certain yet.

Honor Magic 2

Honor Magic 2 arrived in October 2018 with Android 9.0 Pie-based Magic UI 2 or EMUI 9 on-board. It is strapped with a powerful Kirin 980 SoC with up to 256GB of UFS 2.1 storage and 8GB of RAM. It may or may not get Android 11 R as it will be its second and probably last upgrade.

Honor Play 8A

Honor’s Play 8A is among the last that we speculate to get Android 11 R once the latter releases this August/September. It arrived with Android 9.0 in January 2019 so the chances are there.

Honor 10 Lite

Released in November 2018, Honor 10 Lite arrived with Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box. It may or may not receive an Android 11 R upgrade but hey, we don’t have any confirmed intel yet so take it with a pinch of salt.

Honor 20 Youth Edition

Update as of July 07: According to a purported list of Huawei and Honor devices to get the EMUI 11/MagicUI 4.0 upgrade, Honor 20 Youth Edition is listed as a part of the first batch of phones to get the upgrade by Q3 2020.

As of now, there is no information related to the list of new features and enhancements the Magic UI 4.0 which will be based on Android 10, will bring in for the Honor phones. Based on previous releases, we may see a glimpse of the OS at the Huawei Developer Conference 2020 in Q2 of 2020.
