Apple’s internal network allows Apple Store employees to view their hours each day, but this information is not easily accessible from the Calendar application on the iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Hunt created a tool called Roster Genius that is a web extension to convert Apple’s internal calendaring system into a file that is compatible with the iOS and Mac calendar applications....

Apple’s iPad production is nearing three million units every month in the lead-in to Christmas, with manufacturing partner, Foxconn, opening aditional capacity in its new plants in Chengdu, China. The new production lines are limited at present, churning out 10,000 iPads each day, but the capacity has been bought onstream to satisfy demand, Digitimes reports. “Foxconn had previously refuted claims that the company would establish iPad production lines at the plants in Chengdu, but related component players have pointed out that Foxconn already started shipping iPads from the site in November and expected the site to become a major supply base starting the first quarter of 2011....

Earlier today Apple pushed out firmware for the HomePod smart speaker ahead of its launch in December, and naturally developer Steve Troughton-Smith has unpacked the code and discovered new details. HomePod firmware code (labeled AudioAccessory1,1) shows that the smart speaker runs the full iOS stack like an iPhone without a screen and relies on a shell app called SoundBoard (presumably like SpringBoard on iOS). Like Apple’s other products, HomePod will support accessibility features including VoiceOver according to the firmware code....
